빛으로 오는 기억

태초에 천공 가운데 빛이 있었다
그 빛이 생명을 잉태하고 사물에 이름을 지어주었다
세상은 빛으로 충만했고 사람과 식물과 동물들은 제 수명을 누렸다
넉넉한 품에 가득 고여 있는 빛은 아무리 퍼주어도 없어지지 않았다
빛을 생명이라 여기던 때는 사람도 식물도 동물도 하나였다
그렇게 영원할 줄 알았던 빛은
사람의 욕심에 상처를 입고 차츰 나이를 먹기 시작했다
빛에 주름이 하나 둘 생기고 주름과 주름 사이에
틈이 생기고 빛은 생기를 잃어갔다
따뜻한 빛은 온도를 잃고 밝게 비추던 빛은 찬란
함을 잃고 탱탱한 피부에는 검버섯이 피어올랐다
시간이 흘러 노인이 된 빛은 세상의 피가 다 빠져
나가는 찰나에 다시 들어와 자리를 잡았다
어둠 속에서 더욱 환하게 비추던 빛은
이제 온전히 서 있을 기력조차 잃고
언제 올지 모를 한 사람을 기다려야 한다

In the beginning, there was light in the heavens
That light gave birth to life and named all things
The world was filled with light, and people, plants, and animals enjoyed their lifetimes
The abundant light, never depleting no matter how much was given
When light was considered life, humans, plants, and animals were one
But the light we thought would be eternal began to age due to human greed
Wrinkles formed on the light, and between those wrinkles
Gaps emerged, and the light began to lose its vitality
The warm light lost its temperature, the bright light lost its brilliance
And dark spots began to appear on its once smooth skin
As time passed, the light, now an old man, returned to the world
Just as its life was being drained away
Shining even brighter in the darkness,
the light now lacks the strength to stand on its own
And must wait for someone, whose arrival is unknown
